With Sectionals done and Regionals and The Games just around the corner I want to talk a little about the value of competition. Last year in Aromas there was a big banner hanging over the stadium that said: "Our workouts are competitive events. The value of CrossFit lies in it's dominance over other athletes. This is a truth divined thru competition not debate." In short this simply means " Put up or shut up." Quit talking about how good you are and how awesome your program is and how every other program out there is crap. Show up and prove it. The CrossFit Games provide everyone that opportunity. The games allow us to test ourselves and training programs against the best in the world.

The simple fact is not everyone will make it to the Games in Aromas. That honor is reserved for the very best athletes. Does that mean that competition has no value in your everyday training? Nothing could be further from the truth. Everytime you workout at Flatirons CrossFit you are competing. It might be against another athlete or a time on the board or just yourself but make no mistake you are competing. Entering a competition or challenge will force you to push yourself to the next level and find that next gear. Its finding that next gear that will take your training and ultimately your fitness to the next level. Competiton finds all the chinks in your armour and helps motivate you to fix them. It's not always about winning or losing but it is always about getting better.

  • Thank you for allowing me to train with you this summer. Being a football player at a Division 1 level I obviously want the best workout available to increase my performance. I have been doing conventional weightlifting for since I can remember and recently have not felt like it was increasing my performance as it should. Coming to Crossfit has been amazing. The high intensity workouts have made me more mentally tough, physically stronger, and able to endure more. Thank you for bringing me in, I believe in Crossfit all the way.

My daughter and I started Crossfit 1 month ago, I already feel an increased sense of strength. I've always been physically active, growing up as a competitive gymnast and lately an avid runner. Tim's ability to push me through the mental and physical boundaries of each and every Crossfit class is incredible. I have also been participating in the Kettlebell program and Tim has made it constantly challenging, exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time. I love the fact that he is always on the lookout for proper form and is quick to correct you if need be. He continues to push us to work hard, use good form, and never forgetting to tell us that we are doing a good job. Thanks for the motivation, support and the extremely challenging workouts.
