Sid and Tim are going to attempt to do 200 muscle-ups between the two of them at 9:30. So if you are not doing anything come in and cheer them on because they are going to need it.

One of the really great things about CrossFit is the sense of community that it creates. Nowhere else can you walk into a gym and immediately feel a sense of camaraderie. Let's face it, we are all a little bit nuts to train like this. There is something inside of us that we all share and CrossFit brings it out in us. CrossFit humbles us all and that allows us to relate to each other, whether we are seasoned veterans or new to CrossFit. Challenges and competitions are one way that we get together to have fun. They are not just for the "Fire breathers" in the gym but for everyone to take part in. It's one way we get better. These events bring us together to help each other get better. So the next time you see some crazy challenge of competition up on the whiteboard, sign up. You won't regret it.

Great job at yesterday's Fight Gone Bad workout. We had 40 athletes compete and it was standing room only in the gym. Flatirons and MBS CrossFit raised $3870.00. Thank you to everyone who participated and thanks to Chris for doing a great job with lunch. Pictures and results will be up tomorrow

Fight Gone Bad

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. This is a five-minute round from which a one-minute break is allowed before repeating. We've used this in 3 and 5 round versions. The stations are:

1. Wall-ball: 20 pound ball, 10 ft target. (Reps)
2. Sumo deadlift high-pull: 75 pounds (Reps)
3. Box Jump: 20" box (Reps)
4. Push-press: 75 pounds (Reps)
5. Row: calories (Calories)

The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. On call of "rotate," the athlete/s must move to next station immediately for good score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.

This is it guys. It's here!

It is never to early to learn how to train with kettlebells

In the kids class we learned the Kettlebell swing and worked on the squat. To finish up we played a little medball boccie ball.

We made the cover of the Daily Camera's FIT section yesterday. A big thank you to Aimee Heckle for capturing some of what we do here in words and thanks to Mark the photographer for his great photo of me yelling at Rosanne and the picture of our beloved puke bucket.

Dave Castro throws down the gauntlet

I doubt anyone will answer the challenge and if they do.......Good Luck.

Everyone did a fantastic job with "Fran" yesterday congratulations to all the athletes who did the "Fran" Rx'd. There were a lot of PR's broken and the most noticeable was Tim Towell's. Tim used 75# last time he did "Fran" and yesterday he did it Rx'd and lopped 5 minutes of his time. Way to go Tim!

Testimonials

  • Thank you for allowing me to train with you this summer. Being a football player at a Division 1 level I obviously want the best workout available to increase my performance. I have been doing conventional weightlifting for since I can remember and recently have not felt like it was increasing my performance as it should. Coming to Crossfit has been amazing. The high intensity workouts have made me more mentally tough, physically stronger, and able to endure more. Thank you for bringing me in, I believe in Crossfit all the way.

My daughter and I started Crossfit 1 month ago, I already feel an increased sense of strength. I've always been physically active, growing up as a competitive gymnast and lately an avid runner. Tim's ability to push me through the mental and physical boundaries of each and every Crossfit class is incredible. I have also been participating in the Kettlebell program and Tim has made it constantly challenging, exhausting and exhilarating all at the same time. I love the fact that he is always on the lookout for proper form and is quick to correct you if need be. He continues to push us to work hard, use good form, and never forgetting to tell us that we are doing a good job. Thanks for the motivation, support and the extremely challenging workouts.
